Famous radio presenter Kusum Peiris penned this song based on a poignant real-life scenario at Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC). Two close colleagues shared a deep, unspoken love for years, but neither expressed their feelings due to hesitation and fear of losing their friendship. Eventually, the young woman accepted a family proposal and married another person. When Kusum Peiris inquired, she discovered that both had secretly loved each other all along, but realized it too late. This tragic, unfulfilled romance inspired the lyrical creation of Asuru Sanin Eka Mohothakadi.
